The Occitanie region includes the vineyards of Languedoc, Roussillon and South-West which are among the 16 largest French vineyards and have a worldwide reputation.

The quality of Occitanie wines depends on many factors: the terroir, the exposure, the grape varieties, the work of the vines, the vinification and the climatic particularities of each year. Although 200 grape varieties are authorised in France, the main ones used in Occitania are Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah for Languedoc-Roussillon and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Négrette, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng for the South West.
